The Institute for Biodiversity, Ecology, Evolution, and Macrosystems (IBEEM) is a new center at Michigan State University (MSU) designed to bring together scientists studying biodiversity at multiple scales with the goal of increasing visibility and productivity of scientists conducting this important research. In order to accomplish this goal, IBEEM:
  1. Provides fellowships to cohorts of MSU postdocs to conduct synergistic research across multiple MSU labs.
  2. Hosts networking events for MSU research labs to jumpstart collaborations
  3. Facilitates open science training for IBEEM postdoctoral fellows and the broader MSU community through focused data science consulting and training sessions.

At MSU, we have secured the largest number of NSF Macrosystems and NEON-enabled Science Awards of any institution, totaling $11M. With IBEEM’s interdisciplinary expertise, we can quantify the complexities involved with explaining and predicting changes to biodiversity across scales
